Dog’s Day Out
Begin your visit at the Hoyt Arboretum Visitor Center, where you can grab a trail map, fill up water, and pick up a treat for your dog before heading out. From there, cross Fairview Boulevard and follow signs toward the Wildwood Trail, connecting to the Garden Connector Trail—a shaded, dog-friendly route that gently descends through the forest toward the Gardens area.
Stay on the Garden Connector as it winds downhill, following posted signs to the Rose Garden and passing through a mix of packed dirt and gravel trails beneath towering trees. Continue until the trail opens up near the International Rose Test Garden, where wide, paved pathways make for an easy and welcoming final stretch.
End your outing with photos of your pup among the rose bushes or with the Portland skyline as your backdrop—a fitting reward after a peaceful, well-marked walk connecting forest trails to one of the Park’s most iconic viewpoints.
