Start on the Overlook Trail in Hoyt Arboretum, where gentle switchbacks reveal sweeping forested hillsides, perfect for a quick selfie stop. At the top, stroll about 100 feet along the Wildwood Trail to take in distant views of Mt. St. Helens and Mt. Rainier. Continue to the Redwood Deck, dramatically nestled among towering redwoods—one of Hoyt Arboretum’s most photogenic spots. Then ride the Free Shuttle Loop to Portland Japanese Garden, where 1–2 unrushed hours let you soak in peaceful landscapes and the East Veranda’s iconic borrowed view of Mt. Hood.
