Begin your visit with a slow start at Umami Café, where you can pick up a coffee or tea before easing into Portland Japanese Garden at your own pace. From there, wander through the Garden, taking time to move slowly through each space, pause at viewpoints, and settle into the quiet rhythm of the landscape.

When you’re ready for a change of setting, board the Washington Park Free Shuttle and ride 4 stops through the forested hillsides to Hoyt Arboretum. Step off into a more secluded environment of tall trees and shaded trails, where you can choose a short walk or simply find a quiet spot to read, rest, or unplug.

Designed for unstructured time and minimal decision-making, this itinerary is about moving gently through the Park and letting each space offer a different kind of quiet.
